Navajo Assets at Risk

• Navajo Nation assets are valued at $9 billion and are entrusted to be stewards of the ARPA, which is $2.089 billion. The responsibility is tremendous. 
• $89 million dollar business capital program struggling to launch. 
• Small Businesses pushed to the side in favor of corporations.
• 42 OPVP employees as well as several career professionals from divisions have experienced the revolving door his office has established in 547 days of taking office.
• Unethical behavior trickles down to take its toll on employees at every level.
• Employees work in fear of retaliation for political purposes and basic managerial standards of practice are thrown out the window.
• Nygren’s firm commitments were to prioritize public safety; since he took office, hundreds of days have come and gone to gather resources to help relatives who have gone missing. 
• Efforts to assist veterans shaped into a demolished a veterans home, leaving the family homeless. 
• The lack of solid governance, untruthfulness, double speak, flagrant misuse of Navajo Nation funds and property have led to grave accountability and critical neglect of duties, reduced morale among government employees, and misconduct of essential responsibilities in the office.  
• In 2022, the expectation of 66,229 Navajo voters regardless of who they supported, is to have a stable and efficient government. 34,890 voted to elect President Nygren to make daily critical decisions, work collaboratively with the Navajo Nation Vice President and the body of the 25th Navajo Nation Council. 
• Despite the movement and progress of the Missing Murdered Indigenous People initiative and matters of the Me Too Movement have created change outside the Navajo Nation, the President has looked the other way and choose to ignore or challenge the reality faced by victims, families, and their communities.
• Absent from Agency Council Meetings.

Navajo Election Administration

• The Navajo Nation allows recall elections to ensure that elected officials (the naat’áaniis) remain accountable to the Navajo people who elected them in office.  
• Recall elections serve as a mechanism for Navajo voters to remove an elected official (naat’áanii) before his or her term is up if they believe that the official is not fulfilling his or her duties as a naat’áanii, acting against the public interest, or engaging in misconduct.  
• Any elected official (naat’áanii) may be removed from office if forty-five percent (45%) of the voters who cast their vote in the last General election file a Recall Petition with the Navajo Nation Election Administration (NNEA). 
• What is the Recall Election Process?
  The Navajo Nation Election Code includes the process of recalling elected officials. Any official elected must complete a period of six months in office before being subjected to recall proceedings.  Recall proceedings can be initiated against any Navajo Nation elected official.  More information regarding recall efforts can be obtained by contacting the NNEA.
• What types of signatures are allowed?
  Physical signatures are required.  Online or virtual signatures are not allowed.  Each signature must include the Chapter and Census number.  Note:  If a voter is signing with a thumbprint, there must be two witness signatures with the Chapter and Census number.  
• Who can sign the Recall Petition?
  Any Navajo voter with a census number who has voted in the 2022 Navajo General Election may sign the Recall Petition. 
• Can I sign the Petition if I did not vote in the last General election or have never voted?
  The answer is No.  But we encourage you to register to vote in the next election. 
• What if I live off the reservation?
  There are no restrictions on where signatures can be gathered.  Our committee members will coordinate with volunteers to organize petition-signing events on and off the Navajo Nation.
